BE COLOURFUL AND CREATIVE WITH YOUR COMMUNITY, TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR BREAST CANCER!
In support of Breast Cancer for the month of October, I reached out to my community to sell Pink Fabric called the Pink Power Breast Cancer Awareness.
Originally I had ordered 50 ribbons and the orders just kept coming. I then changed the order to 120 pink ribbons. Little did I know that this little project would turn into a huge outpour of love. Green Park was first in line with the orders. River club enclosure soon followed, then Krameville and finally when it hit the I love fourways page, Norscot jumped on board. As the numbers increased my little project to create awareness for Breast Cancer turned into 380 Ribbons. All order’s and collections closed on the 2nd of October. This was because I have chemo on Tuesday the 4th October. As I fight my own fight with MBC, I want to bring awareness to others about Breast Cancer as well as raising funds for Cansa and my own backabuddy campaign.
The idea came when I remember seeing a post many years back. Pink trees for Pauline in aid of Cansa started in 2012.
Carol-Ann van Jaarsveldt took the legacy of her mother and grandmother and turned it into an epic tale of hope, encouragement and belonging. Carol-Ann lost her mother and her grandmother, both named Pauline, to cancer. She actedon her dream to communicate the legacy of these two women, who both played significant roles in her life, and made it areality in her hometown Graaff-Reinet. The ‘Pink Trees for Pauline’ initiative was then born. To raise breast cancerawareness all the trees along the roads in Graaff-Reinet were wrapped in pink material.
When the ribbons started going up the neighbourhood had a pink glow throughout the roads. Soon roads where competing to have as many trees as they could. I had 3 lovely ladies that came on board selling them in there areas's. As you drive past i hope you give your boobies a good feel. Anything that feels like it shouldn't be there have it checked. Remember to have your mammograms once a year.
If you would still like to help with my backabuddy please check out.
